Salina is small lots and big trees. Mattydale, Lyncourt, and Galeville filled in with houses close together, and the trees planted back then are now taller than everything around them.
So when one has to come down, there’s usually a house, a garage, a fence, and a neighbor all within reach.
Happens all the time. It’s fixable.
Salina's trees, by neighborhood
Mattydale. Tight lots off Route 11 and around the side streets. Not much room to drop anything. Most removals here come down in sections, roped down by a climber.
Lyncourt. Older homes right on the Syracuse city line, with mature street and yard trees that have been there longer than most of the owners. Expect overhanging limbs and trees crowding the wires.
Galeville and toward the lake. Wind off Onondaga Lake with nothing to slow it down. Dead wood up top ends up on cars and roofs. Ash that never got treated is dead or close to it by now.
What we can help with
Removals, trimming, stump grinding, and storm cleanup. Tell us where you are and what you’ve got. We’ll schedule a crew that’s already working around Salina, which can mean a quicker look and less drive time built into the quote.
Salina odds and ends
- Salina’s curbside brush pickup runs March 15 through December 12. Limbs have to be tied, under 4 feet long, under 3 inches thick, and under 50 pounds. Whole trees and stumps aren’t picked up, so the cleanup needs to be part of the job.
- If the tree is in the strip between the sidewalk and the street, it may belong to the Town of Salina. Check before anybody cuts.
- After a big storm, crews book up fast. Call early.
Questions people ask
Do you cover Mattydale, Lyncourt, and Galeville?
Yes. All of the Town of Salina, including Mattydale, Lyncourt, Galeville, and the Salina side of North Syracuse. Liverpool has its own page.
Will the town pick up the wood after a tree comes down?
Not the tree itself. Salina’s brush pickup takes small, tied limbs, but removed trees and stumps are the homeowner’s responsibility. Our quote can include hauling everything away.
My street tree is dying. Is that mine to remove?
Maybe not. Trees in the right-of-way often belong to the town. Call them first. If it’s theirs, they handle it.
Can they take a tree down in a tight Mattydale backyard?
Usually, yes. Crews climb the tree and lower it in sections when there’s no room to drop it.
